Infrequent Mailing

No. 16, June 6, 2005

Quick bits on what's news, a chance to win stuff, and some not-so-sexy behind the scenes information too.

It's going to be a busy couple weeks coming up around the studio so we thought we'd get a quick mail out for June. Thanks to everyone who entered our various contests in last month's "All-Giveaway" edition of our Infrequent Mailing and if you won, you'll be getting your loot soon.

We thought our old RSS feed was cool. We were wrong. Thanks to Feedburner, that's all fixed up nice. Same address. More better. It contains the freshest Fresh Signals and an occasional tickle on new site features and contests as well.

Crash Ballet 3: Filmstrip Poker

You only have until Wednesday to get your submission in for the third in our Crash Ballet remix contests. All the details are here and it's a fairly simple assignment, and one full of funny possibilities as demonstrated by Steve's example.

What Are You Jewelboxing?

We're not exactly sure quite what they hope to learn, but next Saturday a bunch of people are going to be visiting our studio as part of the How Magazine Design Conference here in Chicago. As part of the deal we are inserting a funny little postcard for Jewelboxing in all the attendees' goody-bags. Everyone at CP contributed to this, check it here. In accordance with our policy to never make a special offer to anyone without also making it available to our friends who subscribe to this goofy newsletter, here's a link to the discount we're offering.

Since the last mailing, we've posted Case Study 3 featuring the amazing work of Rafael Macho. Definitely worth a peek.

Oh Kiss My Ass Oh Let It Rock

We've got a crew out with The Pixies for The Show right now. They'll be in Indy tomorrow and Bryan and Susan from CP will be there with them. So if you're going, say hello, they'll be wearing these. According to all reports, last night's concert at Red Rocks in Colorado was epic. The Chicago Reader's music columnist, Bob Mehr wrote a very nice piece on our new company on Friday and no, we're not usually that serious-looking.

The disc-sets from the Portland, SF and LA dates each contain two complete performances. SF will most likely sell-out this week so if you were waiting for a sign before you order, this is it.

Giveaway: The first three people to write to contest at coudal dot com with "UMass" in the subject line and include a photo of themselves wearing a Pixies tee or holding up a Pixies CD, or at a Pixies show or something like that, will receive a Pixies live recording from last year's tour.

Various and Sundry

We're very happy that House Industries has joined our Support Mechanism team for the summer. Kevin's Cast of Shadows is published this week in New Zealand under the title Wicker. We'll have some more news of that soon. Here's a sneak peek at a tv commercial we're working on for JB with the generous assistance of Chaz Windus from Blazing Lazer who is helping with the music and audio. How can a little, tiny company like us afford the outrageous costs associated with broadcast televsion media buying you ask? We can't. Remember you heard this phrase first here, "Media Squatting." Copy Goes Here will be our first short feature film, we're in pre-production now. We don't have any real reason to do it. But that never stopped us before.

Yours always,

The Coudal Partners Crew.
