Glenfiddich

Before we commence any creative we love to get ‘under the skin’ of a brand and conduct extensive research to uncover valuable and ownable insights. Gary discovered that Glenfiddich is the only distiller in Scotland who coal fire their copper stills. Over time, this unique manufacturing process creates a beautiful tarnished patina on the metal.

Gary decided to illustrate this unique brand insight across the packaging, which created a compelling and distinctive solution that has proved to be both enduring and popular.

Guinnessness

The name ‘Guinness’ is so intrincally linked to the famous stout brand that the company often struggles for credibility with other product lines, such as lager or ale. Guinness lager anyone?

Gary was asked to examine the ‘World of Guinnessness’ to enable Guinness to be seen as a master brewer experts at transforming natural ingredients into incredible beers. His ingenious solution was to use the iconic harp as a ‘catalyst for transformation’, with hops and wheat turning into great beer.

NPD Irish Cider

The design of cider brands in Ireland is often very traditional, usually with celtic overtones. To capture a younger audience Gary was recently asked to create an entirely new brand that would capture a more contemporary spirit yet also suggest the authentic, down-to-earth production of the cider, made entirely from Irish apples.

He explored a wide range of solutions including the ‘Castle Shield’ which represented the ruins of the castle overlooking the orchard and ‘Hard Pressed’ which was heavily influenced by the production process.

Chambord Shine Awards

Brown-Forman identified an opportunity to link the Chambord brand more closely with fashion. The Chambord Shine Awards was developed by Sophie (whilst at Freeform in 2008) to foster and support Australia’s emerging fashion design talent. Ten designers were asked to create a ‘Chambord outfit’ which was then showcased at a catwalk event. Event partners included Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, Marie Claire, OPI, Shiseido, Chadwick Models and O&M. The event received widespread exposure. Sophie’s involvement spanned idea generation and development, partnership negotiation and event co-ordination.

Vodafone

Vodafone are sponsors of a variety of sports around the world. Smart use of branding the events and corporate entertaining is essential for Vodafone to benefit from their investment.
Gary was originally responsible for creating the Vodafone idenitity and he frequently referred to the corporate colours as Vodafone red and white. It seemed only natural to design bespoke Vodafone wine label labels. The solution was very simple: Using the brand icon, overlayed with two circles and a single vertical line we suggest a wine glass filled with either white or red wine. Cheers!
