Mission Impossible: Ikea Protocol

If you weren't sure just how seriously people take fonts, this should give you some idea.

Matthew Butterick has made public an email to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird about the choice of screen font Verdana' in the films subtitles.

In an update it seems Brad Bird has responded via Twitter but this is where the conversation gets ugly, proving it's an awful medium for debate -- but that's another discussion.


Wilson Miner - When We Build

This recent talk from the Build design conference is extremely design-focused but also incredibly moving. I already enjoy my job, but this talk made me really excited about the possibilities being a designer affords. If you've got 40 minutes to spare I strongly recommend it.

First time in history I've enjoyed the sounds of the recorder.

Not sure how this guy held his kids attention long enough to organise this, but it's great all the same.
